For all those coming down under in a few weeks for the Regatta Manager IC Wolrds I've done some scratching around below is a link worth looking at if you plan to use public transport.

At the Tullamarine Airport (the international airport for Melbourne) catch the Skybus its red you cant miss them once you walk out of the arrival hall. That takes you into "Southern Cross Railway Station" located at near enough to centre of Melbourne CBD this bus runs every 10-15mins all day everyday takes about 20mins. (Tip: get a return ticket they last for 12months)

From there use the link below so you can play around with times you arrive etc. it gives you a number of options of how you can get to McCrae and back.

http://jp.metlinkmelbourne.com.au/metli ... anguage=en

Enter
From: Southern Cross Railway Station
To:McCrae

Hope this helps, see you soon

I had a request of what a taxi fare would be from the Airport to McCrae your looking at around $180-200AUD each way for one person. If there are a few people travelling together you could of course split that cost and save.

Its around 1.5 hours each way by car from the Airport to McCrae depending on the time of the day maybe 15mins less on a good day, maybe upto half an hour or longer on a really bad day/time.

Or for those who want to arrive in style you can get a 4 person limo for approx $378.50AUD each way from the airport to McCrae $95 each way split 4 times. How cool would you look, enter the IC Rockstars :)

OK I have a one off offer first in first served.

If anyone is arriving in Melbourne on December 22 and can be at Sourthern Cross Railway Station at approx 4:30pm there is a vehicle (Dad) that can fit 3 extra passengers going to McCrae.

I only ask that you put in for some fuel money for my Dad. The car can fit in a fair amount of luggage and will have roof racks on if anyone is travelling with a spare mast, boom, sails....?

If anyone would like to take up this offer send me an e-mail and we will organsie where to meet etc.

Ive done some more digging, it appears the journey planner on the above link isn't the best for giving out all options, and complicates the trip also.

Simply put Trains to Frankston leave Sourthern Cross Station every 15min the connecting bus 788 from Frankston to Portsea stops at Rosebud (suburb next to McCrae they might stop at McCrae if you ask nicely) leaves every 45min depending on which train you catch you could have a wait of 9, 24 or 39min for the bus which leaves from the Frankston Railway Station.

Train leaving Southern Cross to Frankston (Monday to Friday non public holiday)

10.31am arrives 11:36am next bus 12:00pm
10:46am arrives 11:51am next bus 12:00pm
11:01am arrives 12:06pm next bus 12:45pm
11:16am arrives 12:21pm next bus 12:45pm
11:31am arrives 12:36pm next bus 12:45pm
11:46am arrives 12:51pm next bus 1:30pm
12:01pm arrives 1:06pm next bus 1:30pm
12:16pm arrives 1:21pm next bus 1:30pm
12:13pm arrives 1:36pm next bus 2:15pm
12:46pm arrives 1:51pm next bus 2:15pm

These are not the only times the trains and buses run if you are travelling outside these time send me an e-mail and I will look up some relevant times for you.

I still think the limo option is the coolest, who dares to be the Limo travelling IC Rockstar :)

For those who are hiring a car and driving down I can e-mail you some directions in .pdf on the easiest way to get down to McCrae what looks like an easy trip on the map can be a pain to say the least.
