Cheapest and best value-for-money way is to apply a coat of paint/varnish and sprinkle sugar (granulated) or salt on. It then dries to a good grippy surface.

Speed grip is noticably better & lighter than other non slip sheet material. I've tried them all, I used to use varnish with sugar but it is not a bit as efficient as speed grip. Pro grip is much heavier then speed grip & does not have adhesive attached as does speed grip. Speed grip is not cheep but it is by far noticably the best. I can supply you a 1200 x 1400 roll which is enough to do a boat. If interested please contact me at razorbackboats@supanet.com

Cheers, Rob Michael.

Its suprising how much difference the cushioning effect of the sheet materials makes to comfort, but I personally use International deck paint which IME is remarkably good at staying on the boat no matter how casually you apply it.
