This year what is now the Royal Canoe Club is 150 years old. The sailing connection with the RCC is not what it was of course, but its still something noteworthy.
I have, courtesy of Peter Wells, a small leaflet produced for the RCC centenary in 1966. Amongst other things a light hearted article predicts development in the sport in 2066. Funny to think we're half way there now.
Amongst predictions are microminiature cameras on the boats providing live competitors eye view coverage of the racing, 20mm diameter glass fibre masts, speeds approaching 10m/s (=19.8 knots), and a prohibition on hydrofoils...
