Folks,
I'm trying to rebuild the history pages for the intcanoe.org website. Between archive.org and a slurp I took of the site in 2008 I have most of it, but I'm missing the various post 2003 stuff:amazing how the wayback machine has got the stuff I already have, but not the bits I am missing. Now I imagine I can write up the story of the return to development hull shapes, but I am pretty stuffed when it comes to the ACs... Could I have a few paragraphs on how the Acs came about, how the development went, and maybe even some thoughts on why they didn't catch on Internationally?

post thoughts here or email me a piece, I don't mind, I can always stitch it together...

Also, reviewing the current history pages, they do seem to me to be excessively anglo centric. I don't think there's enough about the Swedish scene, and almost nothing at all about Germany... So the more the merrier...

My draft pages are here...

I know they look appalling: that's not my priority at the moment!

The 1850 page is now complete as regards text - well complete, lets say version 1.0. I very much welcome feedback: there are a whole lot of references for this early stuff and its interesting trying to strike the right balance. Theres at least one rather special bit of information which was new to me and probably will be to many of us.
Images are still on the job list: times have changed and we ought to use bigger images than were on the old history pages, but I don't have 19thC books myself to scan. It will be easier when I get to the 20thC, since I have all the Uffa Fox books, although I shall have to check out the copyright situation, which is not a problem for the 19thC stuff.

The other pages are a mix of the old stuff and various odds ane ends I have come across, but there's a lot more work to do... All reference material contributions welcome.

regards, Jim C

I've got stuff down to the early 50s now composed, but I'm still conscious of being desperately short of European, especially German and Swedish material. If anyone reading this is still at Travemuende please menstion to anyone relevant...
