As I recall, when the rule was being written, the object of the exercise was to prohibit bumps that meant the measurements didn't reflect the actual shape of the boat. The intention was always to provide a level platform for people to have fun designing boats, and definitely not to provide a platform for a logic chopping competition between rule writer and rule bender.

So the smart money is that if someone were to produce some sort of logic chopping exercise to try and get a clearly bumped boat through a loophole in measurement, the class would simply rewrite the rule, so the only result would be bad feeling and wasted effort.

This is just a personal opinion though.
