After having finished a perfectly organised Euro Cup with great sailing at good conditions, I want to advert to the next International Canoe World Championship in 2011!

It will be held from July 23rd - 30th 2011 at Travemünde during the Travmünde Week and the sailing venue will be the Neustädter Bucht. Racing will probably be from 24th to 30th. The course, where we will sail will not be very far out. If you check out the course map at http://www.travemuender-woche.net/index.phtml?mNavID=1.100&sNavID=1653.60&La=1, you can find course beach and hotel. On one of these we will have our championship. Raceofficer will be the same, who run our last Euro Cup some years ago, who is very professional and knows the canoes.
We will have races for IC/ICOD/AC announced. Numbers will tell...

Area:
Boats will be placed on the beach. For those coming with a trailer, a tractor will pull the trailers onto the beach and back. For those coming with a container, they will be placed on a secured parking area in 5 min walking distance to the beach. On the beach we will have a big tent for measurement and as a meeting point for the canoe sailors.

Here http://www.travemuender-woche.net/media/custom/1653_2290_1.PDF you can find a map with the area:
5 is the beach with the boats
7 is the container space
9 (more likely) or Mövenstein is campingarea

Accomodation:
Camping:
We will have a space either in a small city park (Zippelpark) just ajacent to the parking area or little more far away at Mövenstein/Grünstrand (bike recommended).
You can book your camping lot with your online entry on http://www.travemuender-woche.de. Electricity is availlable with blue ECC Plug or standard German plug.

Her you can find a list with vacation homes for rent: http://www.travemuende.de/tourismus/hotels/ferienwohnungen/index.html

Keep in mind that there are a lot of other classes and thousands of sailors and visitors coming to Travemünde for that event. So book your accomodation early in advance.

Social program:
there is a big fair surounding the sailing event with lots of booth, bars and stages with live-music, parties in the evenings, a sailors beach club, where photos from the day on the water are presented...
We will have some canoe-intern activities. Details will follow.

More info will follow soon.

Travemünde is a great sailing venue and the event is a very professional run regatta for dinghys, skiffs, cats, sportsboats and big boats. It is one of the biggest regatta series in the world.
You will enjoy your stay at Travemünde!

Feel free to contact me here or at arnestahl@gmx.net for any reason!

Best regards,
Arne

From July 20th to August 1st there will be a unloading and loading service for containers at the car park "Leuchtenfeld". If your containers will be delivered earlier or collected later, make sure that your transport company can load and unload the containers independently. That is not usual here.

Hi
I see that Australia will defend the New York Cup against the best performing country, how are we defining this?

We drafted a set of rules for defining this in 2008 if you want to use them?

Just wondering if anyone was planning on renting a share house for the championships, looks like a couple of Aussies could help fill some space if needed. Otherwise looks like I'll pack a swag and rough it (working on a shoestring budget for this worlds, at least I think I can make it happen)

When do you want the UK canoes to enter ? Has anyone entered on line and do we pay the entry fee to the event organiser or the the German Federation?

All entries are to be made twice:

a) online at http://www.travemuender-woche.net (Entry Form is not online yet) and
b) on the accompanying entry form. Entries must be made through National Federations, and must be received by:

Arne Stahl
Marienstraße 15
38102 Braunschweig
Germany
info@icworlds.de

from now until 1st July 2011. Late entries cannot be accepted. If National Federations send entries by electronic means, hard copies of the entry forms signed by competitors must be forwarded to the Competition Organiser. The Entry Fee for the event is set by Travemünde Week (ca. 280€) and includes a ticket for the Championship Dinner and some social events. Payment should be made during online entry to the Travemünde Week by credit card.

You can download the entry form here:
http://icworlds.de/entry.php

Notice of Race

This is a Draft-version of the Notice of Race. The official NOR will be published on http://www.travemuender-woche.net.

You can download it here:
http://icworlds.de/entry.php

Best regards,
Arne

The online entry on http://www.travemuender-woche.de is active now. You can enter there and via the entry form on http://www.icworlds.de/entry.php until 1st July.

We can offer a very limited number of charter boats for sailors from overseas, who have problems in getting there boats to Germany. If you have an additional boat that you can bring along if needed, or if you want to charter a canoe, please contact me.

It's just 105 days away!

I look forward to your entries!

Best regards,
Arne

Hi Colin
I have tried but had found that the entry was only in German, but looked today and either I am just clicking the right buttons or they have now got entry in English as well, so will be entering on line this week when I have got all my info together. Just then need to finish the boat, go sailing and get it measured!
Alistair
