As a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic and the uncertainty about international travel to Australia from the USA and Europe, which is likely to continue for the rest of the year, plus potential issues relating to quarantine, travel insurance and shipping containers, it has been decided by the ICF Sailing Committee and the Australian organisers to postpone the International Canoe XXI World Championship planned to take place at Lake Macquarie YC in December 2020/January 2021, by one year.
The XXI World Championship will now take place at Lake Macquarie YC between Thursday 30 December 2021 and Saturday 8 January 2022, with registration, measuring and practice taking place for the first few days and racing starting on 2 January. Further details of the programme will be issued in due course.
This decision has been made with some reluctance, but it is hoped that some normality will return during 2021, and by postponing the World Championship by a year will ensure a really successful event.
