Hi,

a happy new year to everybody!

Just to draw your attention to this year's Europa Cup in Travemünde.

Dates: July 23rd: opening ceremony
July 24th to 27th: races, social program, pricegiving

We will have races for IC, AC, and OD-IC if there are enough boats for each class.

For accomodation please check:
http://www.travemuende.de/tourismus/hotels/index.html
(unfortunately this site is only in German, but on the left side you can find three links for hotels, appartments (Ferienwohnungen) and campsites (Campingplätze))

Camping is availlable within walking distance and can be booked with your entry to the event.
Online-entry is not open yet, but will be soon on http://www.travemuender-woche.net

After the Europa Cup we will have our nationals at Wilhelmshaven from July 28th (opening ceremony) to 1st of August.
You are welcome to join us there as well.

Hi everyone and happy new year. Can anyone going to Germany please advise Colin Brown on your intentions to sail either AC or IC please. I propose to travel to this event but would like some idea of numbers before booking the ferry. Many thanks.

Hi Colin, I'll be there, maybe as an AC or maybe as an IC if I'm quick enough to get sorted in time.

Can anyone tell me what the venue conditions are like? Flat water generally? Short chop? Big rollers?Gentle sea breeze or 20 knts every day?

Cheers all, Charlie

An idea of conditions, accommodation etc would be awesome for those of us looking to head there next year for the Worlds - cheers.

I'm planning on going with my AC.

Last time I did an event at Travemuende week we were able to sleep in cars/vans in the carpark behind the fayer. Does anyone know if that is still the case?

When I sailed at Travemünde we always had good conditions ranging from about 10 to 18 knots. Waves were mostly moderate, not too choppy, but you can still have an "old wave" when the wind reduces. It is a bay, so only if you have wind from the sea you can have bigger waves.

Regarding accomodation there are a lot of options if you book early.
There are lots of appartments and small houses for rent, hotels and areas for camping. Camping can be booked with your entry. Everything else as soon as possible.
Please check the link in the earlier post above.

I am looking at entering the euros with my ICOD, As yet I can not see any IC's yet alone ICOD's being listed as being entered. I hope this is due to the website not being updated. So any indication as how many IC's will be there could tip the balance and make my mind up.

Chris,

traditionally we register late, but you can expect about 10 ICODs, 2-3 ICs, and 1-2 ACs from Germany.

Would be interesting to know how many entrys we can expect from uk and sweden.

Please register here: http://www.travemuender-woche.net/custom/tw/entryform.phtml?event_id=76 for the Europa Cup and make shure that you get confirmed by your national federation to the German Canoe Federation at:

Heinz Reichert
Wallstraße 45
31224 Peine
Germany

There still is just one registration from UK and no registration from Sweden.
I hope there will follow a lot more!

Best regards,
Arne
