Are there some good photos showing details of current IC rigs on the 'net?
What are "typical" daggerboard dimensions? (I'm considering replacement of pivoting c'board.)
Do you need a movable seat carriage? I saw reference to a Nethercott hull being sailed, and I'm wondering how old it is and what mods were required.
In you folks' opinion, is an old Avalon worth working on?
IC Qs
Re: IC Qs
People sailed Canoes for decades without movable carraiges, but on the other hand the invention was taken up with enthusiasm when it appeared. I sail on a smallish reservoir so on on flat water and don't often feel the need to pull the plank back - usually got to be pushing 20knots befire I really need to. I've never used more than about half the available travel but I don' sail on the sea.bobfic102 wrote: Do you need a movable seat carriage? Re: IC Qs
In contrast to Jim i sail on the sea in big waves and moving the seat aft in these conditions is essential. The guys with the experience you need to talk too (Steve Clark, Chris Mass) are currently in Germany so may be delayed in responding for a week or two.

Thanks for the info. Looking forward to results from Germany.
I sail on a small lake in NC, USA. I encounter power boat wakes but not open-water-type waves. At this time , I'm straightening out my rigging/launching methods and getting some "tiller time". Any major modifications would be done this Winter.
I am interested in the general opinions on putting much effort into the Avalon hull.
I see that folks are using single u-joint tiller extensions rather than the "antlers" currently on my boat. How do you reach that if you drop it?

The folks who would be able to give best advice on the boat are at the worlds I think.bobfic102 wrote:I am interested in the general opinions on putting much effort into the Avalon hull.

As for the tiller extension, well, I just have to go and fetch it back again...
