The end of the IC season is approaching rapidly once again and the delights of Oxford loom large.

This year I'm considering something a little different for Friday 4th Oct instead of the usual Training day though this is all dependent on Simon (PRO).

Friday 4th
Either Training Day as per usual
OR
Sprint Cup - Short windward / leeward courses - as many as can be completed in the available time frame, all races to count. (also considering pairing up depending on numbers with last boats result counting as the score for the pair)

Saturday 5th
Usual 4 races back to back (3 to score)
SI's to follow

Cost to be £15.00 for each day.

Saturday Evening Annual Meal
Booked into the same venue as last year (Bear and Ragged Staff), sit down for 1900 and once again numbers AND menu choices as soon as possible!

Accomodation
Thames Water have a strict no camping / Camper van policy on site with the gates being locked at sunset till sunrise.

Campsite - Valley Farm Campsite, Farmoor :Tel 01865 861970

There are plenty of B&Bs within the Oxford location I've just highlighted the closest ones to the club.

Friday evening - Free for all, couple of curry houses in the local village or for those discerning Gin lovers - Ginfest in Oxford

We have a new idea for training which has been put forward by Rick Bowers.

Adam Bowers is an Olympic coach and at Castle Cove last year provided some excellent sessions analysing how you sail the boat and its rig setup. Adam has been hired for the Friday and will provide a structured coaching session with video analysis to highlight any issues and improvements you can make on an individual basis. As an additional service for £5 (this is only to recover some of our costs) Rick and Adam can prepare a written report showing pictures of your rig and various aspects of how the boat is working. This will allow you to see how the mast and sails are working together and allow you to improve tuning of the rig, calibration etc.

We believe this could be an immense way of helping everyone in the fleet develop their boats and skills and the association will subsidise this. However we will ask for a slightly higher fee of £20 for the training on Friday with an optional additional £5 if you want a rig report preparing.

Please can we have some feedback on this and also an indication of numbers.

This is a great idea. There are many areas that I am not sure about and one of the issues I have is comparing rig set ups. The difficulty is objectivity; I do not know how you can achieve this, when the best sailor will do well in any up-to-spec boat you might put him in. perhaps if we had 8 or 10 boats set up on the shore, we could all see what Adam has to say about each of them, and do our analysis in this way. Anyway, I am in, however it runs on the day. Looking forward to something constructive!
Or if the idea is just to look at each boat on the water, and to show the specifics of how badly it is sailed, then that would be welcomed too. Rob.
