Yes I'll be there also, this new IC is still just amazing fun. I'ts brought back to mind the reason why we first got into IC's. Wish I was 40 years younger!

I'm tempted to come down with my old Nethercott IC 235, just praying for lots of wind as slightly overweight.

Sadly I am moving house so cant make it, But I do recommend all those that are considering going to go. Oxford is a great venue to have your first open, Nice flat water. You will learn so much from one day here then if you stay and potter about with your home clubs handicap fleet!

Anyone up for sharing a room in the height of luxury that is the Westgate annex? When I checked there were still twin rooms available...

So, with a quick count-up, it currently looks like 10 ACs, and 8 ICs (but I'm guessing that we might see a few others turn-up who don't frequent the forum).

I assume that everyone is up for going to Jamal's for curry?

Look forward to seeing you all there

Hi Bob and Others,

I realise I have not visited the Forum for about a Month! Initially I was not very excited at the prospect of just a one day open with all the hassle of packing up the boat etc for just one day's racing. Recently, I have often been the only IC prepared to travel and turn up at opens and was thus not certain I was going to bother to come. However, it looks like Oxford is attracting a good turn out of ICs so I now aim to come, unless the weather forecast is for stupid winds in which the birds will be flying backwards.

I want to get home Saturday after the event so will need to pack up and remove my IC from the club grounds on Saturday after the event. Does anyone have any idea where I could safely unhitch and then park the IC on its trailer to enable me to drive into Oxford for the evening at Jamal's before making for home? I do not fancy trying to park a motor caravan towing an IC in Oxford on a Saturday evening! It is bad enough finding anywhere to park with just the campervan. I may just have to go straight home after the event.

Socials are easier to attend with two day events which I prefer, but I can see why the sailing club cannot host a full two day event for a small fleet. It is just the same at Draycote where nowadays to get an open you need to show that at least 10 local club members will be sailing in the event. That rules out IC/Ac events at the club probably ever again. The only other option would be to adopt the Draycote Dash as an IC open. It is on again this year in November but currently the level of water in the lake is distracting from the joys of sailing at Draycote (the odd island has appeared and weed is spoiling the racing) though we are better off than some other clubs in the area which have almost lost all their water. Please let it rain, where is Noah when you need him?

Cheers Colin

Hi Colin,

Last time I went to Oxford the club gate had a combination lock, I think I went back in at 5AM on the Sunday to get my boat.

Colin

You can always dump the boat in the drive at my place for the evening.

Well, I WAS really looking forward to coming to Oxford with 219 as my first IC open meeting. Having had the boat for six or seven years now, it's high time I got round to it...

Sadly work pressures, at the last minute, are dictating otherwise.

On the up side, the particular work pressures concerned involve skippering a 56 footer from mallorca to rome.

I suppose I'll just have to accept that as a silver lining, and come to the first one next year... have fun everybody!

Simon.
