Just to make sure everyone is aware of this, the rules have been revised for 2017 and have been ratified by the International Committee and the ICF just before Christmas and are now live.
There is a marked up copy on the UK website under http://www.intcanoe.org.uk/index.php?op ... &Itemid=92
We have some new measurement forms which will be loaded up later.
The main differences are;
Clarification in measuring the angle of square top sails
Confirmation that foils are not allowed on the daggerboard to promote vertical lift and only one daggerboard can be used
Rudders can have foils but if used can't be changed to a non foiling rudder during a series/championship - only one rudder allowed
AC weight dropped by 5Kg to match Nethercott OD rules with spinnaker equipment installed. Note if sailed as an OD without a spinnaker, the lower weight limit will need to be adhered to which may mean adding some lead back if the pole is removed for example.
Clarification of boom sizes on jib and main passing within a 100mm and 30mm hoop excluding fittings (note a knuckle will be defined as a fitting)
Clarification that the mainsail must be able to be taken down when the boat is afloat i.e. can't be tied to the top of the mast
Note measuring of the hull at the BMS has been left unchanged so previous interpretations as defined by the measurers at the last Worlds apply.
Emphasis has been added that national measurers should be contacted by members and designers before trying anything which may be considered to be pushing the boundaries of the rules to ensure that any changes are within the spirit of the rules.
