strong winds and smaller sails

Just wondering about the Nationals, consistently strong winds, and the fact that not everyone was sailing. I am an average One Design sailor, but managed to complete almost all the races, mainly using a smaller set of sails after the first day. The main is 6.5m2 and the jib 2m2. These were cut down ...

Re: NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2017 at W&PNSA

If you are down at the Academy this Tues evening, we are running a sailing session at Chesil Sailability, located right close to where the ICs are parked. We start at 5:30pm through to around 8:00pm, and I'll be running the session. So if you are down, anyone welcome to come and watch a bit, or if y...

Re: CASTLE COVE SC - WEYMOUTH REGATTA

Yes, the Castle Cove resident conventional Nethercott has entered!

I may also be able to offer accommodation, but our son is coming back for a short break from Chile around that time, and we are not sure yet of his timing for coming down to Dorset to see us

Re: HISTORY REQUIRED ON F3 IMPORTED to FRANCE 1980

I have IC 275, which was originally Greyhound, then went to France and was called Iznogoud, and I then purchased her & brought her back to England. I thought Iznogoud was a bit too realistic description of my sailing, so went for the music theme and she is now called Mustang Sally!

Re: NATIONALS 2015

This was a great event, and many thanks to Tony and others behind the scenes for arranging it, and Stone Sailing Club for running it. Really good to have some new IC sailors along as well, ands lets hope we can encourage one or two more down here at Castle Cove in Dorset to have a go. Hugh Mustang S...

I'll be there as well, with a Nethercott

Plan to come for a sailing session on Wednesday as well; any idea what time people will be going on the water on Wednesday as I need to sort out whether I come late Tues or early Wed morning

Re: Latest Sliding Seat (UK Newsletter)

Agreed an excellent edition & many thanks. Particularly good as we now have another new IC sailor at Castle Cove :D who has just bought a Nethercott, and so an excellent way to give him the collective wisdom on how to sail an IC! Is this edition available as a pdf, or will it be online at some stage...

I'll be there, in the old One Design, following you all round!

I hope to be able to come across on Friday to sail Friday afternoon, work permitting.

Frustratingly, I can't do Monday because of a ***** work meeting!

Re: Hugh De Iongh, Sailor of the Month !

Hi Colin Definitely not for my IC sailing, as you'll know! And yes, a complete surprise! Chesil Sailability was inspired by the Paralympics, and by looking for an opportunity for my daughter, who used to do lots of competitive sailing but then had a long term illness, so unable to sail conventionall...

Tacking in strong winds....top tips, please

Hi all Spent a frustrating & wet morning racing in Portland Harbour this morning, Fc 5, and just unable to tack consistently. What are your top tips...? My boat (Nethercott IC) seemed to twitch badly as I tried to go through the wind. The rig was raked back. I tried: - Backing the jib - Bringing the...
