Re: LONDON DINGHY EXHIBITION 2016

It's working fine for me.

Mind you, I don't use Norton.

Re: NATIONALS 2015

Phil,

That's very kind of you to say so, but I can't take all the credit.... Ben took quite a few of the photos, of boats on the water....

But thanks all the same,

Max

Some photos from the long distance race, and some of the individual boats up close:

They are attached to the same URL as some of the Loch Lomond photos, so don't be surprised by a sudden change in location half way through!

Re: NATIONALS 2015

Well that was a good event...! Great to see everyone again, and the amount of advice and help setting up my boat I received has been a huge help... I just need to get out and sail her more (once the carriage is fixed....). I've got some photos that I'll try to upload somewhere on Flickr soon of the ...

Re: NATIONALS 2015

Looking forward to revisiting Stone and a practice day is a great idea. I'll be there as well, with a Nethercott Plan to come for a sailing session on Wednesday as well; any idea what time people will be going on the water on Wednesday as I need to sort out whether I come late Tues or early Wed mor...

Re: Measuring at the Nationals

Hi Colin,

I have several sets of sails that have been measured, and they have your signatures on the sails. But I think I may have mislaid the actual certificates.

Do I need re-measurement to acquire these? Or would I be allowed to use the sails despite lacking certification?

Cheers,

Max

Keeping the rudder down!

I have recently taken my AC out again, and tried to finally get this bit sorted. I ended up using a trolley wheel pin and various bits of bungee and washers for a quick fix, that'd hopefully get me sailing for the day. Unfortunately it was too quick, and I ended up ripping the screw out whilst hoist...

Kite advice

Hi All,

Perhaps this isn't so relevant since everyone seems to be 'going DC', but I have recently ordered some Holmenkol Seal n Glide to coat one of my kites for the upcoming nationals.

Has anyone got any advice on using it?

Any help would be much appreciated...

Cheers,

Max

Re: Tin Mast wanted

I think Charlie Chandler still has a *soft* carbon mast, he may be wanting to sell? Maybe worth contacting him?

Re: Jib hanks

I do recall, when reading a book on fluid flow by a Ascher Shapiro, there were many references to a wire having much more drag than a sloped more aerodynamic shape, such as that found on a foil. For example: http://i46.tinypic.com/eticcz.jpg But I'd have also thought the shrouds would have a similar...

Re: Llandegfedd Inland Championships 2015

Gaz,

Not that I'm one to talk, but - isn't your boat the one in the background with only a jib up (whilst firmly on land)?

How does she go otherwise, though?

I have heard some good reports from people about her upwind abilities....

Cheers,

Max

Re: NATIONALS 2015

Although I have been very busy recently, with exams and the various other (not recommended) activities often attributed to applying to university, I very much hope to make it to the nationals, and provide the trailing end of the AC (and, if the courses are still sailed together, IC) fleet with some ...

Re: Wanted: Carbon Mast for Nethercot OD

Hi, Looking to upgrade GBR270 to carbon mast, does anyone have an old one collecting dust? Anything considered. Thanks, Ben I am assuming you're based in the UK? It was a while ago, but (if circumstances would've allowed, and I had more time/money I would have had it) have you tried Max Reid? He ha...
