Re: What is an "Avalon built boat?

The data I have is pretty clear that Avalon was a builder. It lists 101 as having builder Avalon/Nethercott and 102 as John Crisp/Nethercott. J Crisp seems to have owned 102 up to 1980. Make of that what you will! Pretty muchthe information I have. I know that John Crisp built the boat /finished th...

What is an "Avalon built boat?

I have recently been sorting through a back catalogue of old photos and found a picture of K101 "Dicey." as originally posted on ebay (I took a copy at the time) Dicey was described as an "Avalon built" hull and was essentially identical to K102 Torment. Both had raked back Sapele patterned ply and ...

Re: International Website - Photos needed...

Hi Jim, I have posted about 65 pics of various boats and scenes from the 2019 Nat Champs in Plymouth onto the Facebook forum... Mostly stuff to let people look at how their rigs were setting so the Video is a bit choppy and the photos are variable but there are a number of the better/luckier photos ...

Re: Life After IC Sailing

Hi Colin, If you want to temp your grand-children into sailing in the UK the first thing you need is a warm wet suit, a suitable boat and fun, to persuade the children that they are wet bob's. YOu may also need a long(ish) pocket! :? It does seem to me that younger children are drawn to Toppe...

Re: FUTURE OF THE AC

I strongly agree with Steve about the dangers of diluting the class. We all want to race in a fleet and as a small class it makes sense to avoid too many iterations of te same fleet. Events such as the Nationals Europa and the recent Worlds are forceful reminders if how much better it feels on a sta...

Re: 2019 Nationals Plymouth

Being as I am a retired Gent, I am able to spend my whole week at the nationals and so I can do the full week series (one race per day.) However I do also want to do the "Proper" Nationals series. Am I correct then in assuming that on the Monday/Tues/ Wednesday there will be a single race, but on th...

Information on mast overhangs in France.

A bit of discussion about mast overhangs on the CVRDA recently. http://www.cvrda.org/community/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=7027&p=58091#p58091 Could be relevant for those that carry the crown jewels on the car (or Winnebago) rooftop. Nb NO overhang allowed on the front (of the car), and a maximum (even with...

Re: Boat List

Hi Gilles, I have Torment K102, which is something of a sister ship to Dicey. I very nearly bought Dicey when she came up on ebay a few years ago but I was a little hesitant at the final bid. There are pictures of Torment on http://www.cvrda.org in various stages of repair, easily found if you (or t...

Re: europa cup 2019

I've been getting very exited about the prospect of a European cup in conditions that could well mimic Australia in 2020. Seasonal average Temp of 30*c with reliable breezes, and a stones throw from some of the best Surfing Beeches in Europe to keep us busy on the Lay days! 8) But...Travel needs to ...

Re: OXFORD SC OPEN AND TRAINING DAY ( 5th - 6th OCT)

With Mengham Rythe cancelled this looks like my only chance of attending an open meeting this year. :(

Please count me in for Friday training and book a place for Dinner.

Michael.

Prior commitments, and broken boats mean I cant get to Stone . I'll miss the racing and wish you all a good week!

I see a long summer/Autumn of fixing and glueing ahead of me.
