Re: Tiller extension and the rudder problem

Colin, make a 100mm dia disc from tufnol, carbon or a stiff nylon/plastic, bolt it between the tiller extension swivel & tiller which will then not allow the tiller extension to drop just below horizontal. Cheers, Rob.

Re: GBR 261 history?

If it has moulded wood shell then it's not GBR261. 261 had a carbon shell & plywood decks.

Re: GBR 261 history?

Hi Gilles, I built the carbon shell for GBR261 in 1995 for the owner Andy Gibbs from Hayling Island. I assisted him with the home build & sprayed her yellow, he named her Top Banana. I converted her to AC in approx. 2000 & she was one of many AC's then sailing at Hayling Island SC. I think she went ...

Re: Nethercott measurement aft...

Hi Jim, just read your post, I have a set of hull templates at my workshop if you need to borrow them. The original hull was in tolerance with usual thickness of paint on so if you've now removed all the filler you added down to the shell then just a basic fare & spray should keep her in tolerances ...

Re: Ratio of Mainsail to Jib

Most AC's & IC OD's I've supplied sails for over many years have settled at 7.6 mainsail & 2.4 jibs with the mast around 1850 - 2000 from the bow. Don't forget that the rules state that after measuring the mainsail, 0.6 sq m must be deducted from the measurement to allow for a change in the sail rul...

Re: Tensioning toestraps

Hi Charlie, first you'll need to by toe strap that does not stretch, many do & are useless! Finding it is a case of trial & error. If your local chandlery will allow you'll need to put one end in a vice & pull it (about 4 meters) as hard as you can to see if it stretches at all. If it does then it's...
